Terms of Service

Last updated: June 12, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Drop Your Puck platform operated by Drop Your Puck LLC ("Drop Your Puck LLC," "we," "us," or "our"), a limited liability company organized in the State of New York. By accessing, creating an account, or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

1. Platform Overview

Drop Your Puck is an online marketplace that connects hockey trainers ("Trainers") with parents, players, and guardians ("Parents") seeking private hockey instruction and development services. Drop Your Puck is not itself a training provider — we provide the platform that facilitates connections and transactions between Trainers and Parents. We do not employ Trainers, set training curricula, or supervise any session.

2. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
  • Parents and legal guardians may book sessions on behalf of minor players.
  • By using the platform you represent that all information you provide is accurate, current, and complete.
  • You represent that you are legally permitted to enter into these Terms in your jurisdiction.

3. Trainer Accounts & Subscriptions

Trainers must purchase an active subscription plan to maintain a visible profile on the platform. Plans are offered on a monthly basis and billed automatically through Stripe.

  • Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date.
  • Cancelling a subscription removes profile visibility at the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds are issued for unused subscription time.
  • Trainers are responsible for ensuring their payment method remains valid.
  • Drop Your Puck reserves the right to modify subscription pricing with 30 days' notice.

4. Independent Trainers

All Trainers listed on Drop Your Puck operate as independent contractors and are not employees, agents, or representatives of Drop Your Puck LLC. Drop Your Puck does not supervise, direct, or control training sessions and is not responsible for the conduct, actions, qualifications, certifications, or performance of any Trainer.

  • Trainers create a profile listing their credentials, specialties, location, and session rate.
  • Trainers are solely responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all profile information.
  • Trainers must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, including those related to working with minors (background checks, SafeSport certification, etc.).
  • Trainers must connect a valid bank account via Stripe to receive payouts.
  • Trainers agree to respond to booking requests within 7 days and to conduct all sessions professionally and safely.

5. Trainer Verification

Drop Your Puck may review trainer-submitted information for quality and platform standards and may mark certain profiles as "Verified." The "Verified" badge reflects our internal review process only — it is not a guarantee of any particular qualification, certification, licensure, background check status, or fitness to train.

Users are solely responsible for independently evaluating whether a Trainer is appropriate for their needs before booking a session. We strongly encourage parents to conduct their own due diligence, including verifying credentials and speaking with the Trainer directly.

6. Booking and Payments

How bookings work:

  • Parents submit a session request and provide payment details. The card is authorized (a hold is placed) but not charged at the time of booking.
  • The Trainer reviews the request and either accepts or declines within 7 days.
  • If the Trainer accepts, the payment is captured and the session is confirmed.
  • If the Trainer declines or does not respond within 7 days, the authorization is released and the Parent is not charged.

Platform fee: Drop Your Puck generates revenue through trainer subscription plans. Trainers keep 100% of their session rate — we do not take a commission on individual sessions. Subscription pricing and plan details are displayed at the time of plan selection.

Payment processing: All payments are processed securely by Stripe, Inc. Drop Your Puck does not store payment card numbers or sensitive financial data. Stripe's terms and privacy policy apply to all payment transactions.

7. Cancellations and Refunds

  • Declined requests: No charge is made. Any card hold is released immediately.
  • Trainer-initiated cancellation: The Parent receives a full refund automatically. Trainers with repeated cancellations may be suspended or removed from the platform.
  • Parent-initiated cancellation (more than 48 hours before session): A full refund will be issued.
  • Parent-initiated cancellation (less than 48 hours before session): A 50% cancellation fee applies. The remaining 50% is refunded to the Parent.
  • Parent no-show: The full session fee is forfeited with no refund.
  • Trainer no-show: The Parent receives a full refund.
  • Disputes: Contact dropyourpuck@gmail.com. We will review all disputes in good faith and respond within 5 business days.

8. Parent / Player Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate information when creating an account and submitting booking requests.
  • Ensure payment information is valid at the time of booking.
  • Communicate respectfully with Trainers and other users.
  • Arrive on time to scheduled sessions.
  • Parents and legal guardians are responsible for the supervision of minors and for ensuring all sessions are appropriate for the player's age, skill level, and physical condition.
  • Parents are responsible for disclosing any relevant medical conditions, injuries, or limitations to the Trainer prior to a session.

9. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Provide false, misleading, or incomplete information on your profile or in booking requests.
  • Arrange sessions through the platform and then pay the Trainer outside the platform to circumvent payment processing.
  • Harass, threaten, intimidate, or abuse any Trainer, parent, player, or Drop Your Puck staff member.
  • Attempt to bypass, exploit, or reverse-engineer any platform system or payment mechanism.
  • Scrape, copy, or reproduce platform content without written permission.
  • Engage in fraudulent activity of any kind.
  • Use the platform for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law.

10. Account Suspension & Termination

Drop Your Puck reserves the right to suspend, restrict, or permanently remove any account that violates these Terms, creates safety concerns, or engages in conduct detrimental to other users or the platform — at our sole discretion, with or without prior notice. Suspended accounts are not entitled to subscription refunds.

11. Intellectual Property

All content on the Drop Your Puck platform — including text, graphics, logos, and code — is owned by or licensed to Drop Your Puck LLC. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written consent. Trainers retain ownership of photos and media they upload to their profiles but grant Drop Your Puck a non-exclusive license to display that content on the platform.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

Drop Your Puck provides the platform "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We are not responsible for the quality, safety, legality, or outcome of any training session.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Drop Your Puck LLC, its members, officers, employees, and contractors shall not be liable for any injuries, losses, damages, disputes, scheduling issues, trainer conduct, equipment failures, facility-related incidents, or any indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform or participation in any session booked through it. Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total subscription or session fees you paid to Drop Your Puck in the 3 months preceding the claim, or (b) $100.

14. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the platform shall first be submitted to good-faith mediation. If mediation fails, disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in New York, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.

15. Liability Waiver & Assumption of Risk

By booking or participating in any session arranged through Drop Your Puck, you expressly acknowledge, understand, and agree to the following:

Inherent Risks. Hockey training and athletic activity involve inherent and unavoidable risks, including but not limited to: physical injury, falls, collisions with other participants or equipment, equipment-related injuries, overexertion, illness, and property damage. These risks exist regardless of the precautions taken by any party.

Voluntary Assumption of Risk. You voluntarily and knowingly assume all risks — known and unknown — associated with participation in any training session arranged through the platform. This assumption of risk applies to you and, where applicable, to the minor player on whose behalf you are booking.

Parental & Guardian Responsibility. Parents and legal guardians who book sessions on behalf of a minor player represent that they are authorized to do so and assume full responsibility for the minor's participation, safety, and conduct during all training activities.

Independent Trainer Relationship. All Trainers are independent contractors, not employees or agents of Drop Your Puck LLC. Drop Your Puck does not supervise, direct, or control the content, manner, or safety of any training session and makes no warranty regarding:

  • The quality, safety, or effectiveness of any training session
  • The accuracy or currency of any Trainer's credentials, certifications, or background
  • The condition, safety, or suitability of any facility where sessions take place
  • The conduct, professionalism, or fitness of any Trainer

Release of Liability. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you hereby release, waive, discharge, and hold harmless Drop Your Puck LLC, its members, officers, employees, contractors, affiliates, successors, and assigns (collectively, "Released Parties") from any and all claims, demands, causes of action, damages, losses, costs, and liabilities of any nature — whether known or unknown — arising out of or related to your use of the platform or participation in any session arranged through it.

Indemnification. You agree to indemnify and defend the Released Parties against any third-party claim arising from your use of the platform, your participation in any session, or your breach of these Terms, including reasonable attorneys' fees and costs.

Acknowledgment. By completing a booking through Drop Your Puck, you confirm that you have read, understood, and voluntarily agreed to this Liability Waiver and Assumption of Risk. If you do not agree, do not use the platform or book any sessions.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by posting the updated Terms with a new effective date. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
